IVR Young Scholar Prize 2017

The 2017 biennial IVR Young Scholar Prize has been awarded to Philipp Gisbertz for his paper on “The Concepts of War and Peace in the Context of Transnational Terrorism” (abstract available). Philipp Gisbertz is a research and teaching associate at the University of Göttingen, Germany. In April 2017, he completed his Ph.D. in law at the University of Göttingen with highest honors (summa cum laude) with a thesis on “Human Dignity in the Anglo-American Philosophy of Law”. Before this, he studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin (2006–2011) with a specialization in contemporary history and philosophy of law. Since November 2016 he has been working on a postdoc project about “The Concepts of War and Peace in the course of history and in the Context of Transnational Terrorism” which is simultaneously a Ph.D. project in Philosophy and the basis for the award-winning paper which will be published in issue 1/2018 of the ARSP.

A special session was held on 17 July 2017 at the IVR World Congress when Philipp Gisbertz delivered his prize-winning paper.
